Come glorify God through your gift of music!
Dr. Henry Bauer, Director
The Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral Choir is the heart of the Cathedral's music ministry. Under the direction of Dr. Henry Bauer, singing with the choir in the beauty of the Cathedral can be a divine and unique connection with God. Participation in the choir directly serves the worship needs of the church by providing sacred music for Cathedral liturgies..
The Cathedral’s choral music is drawn from the rich heritage of sacred music. Works by masters such as Handel, Franck, Rutter and more are part of the yearly repertoire. The choir commitment calls for once monthly appearance for the Sunday 11:00am Mass plus special liturgies throughout the year including Christmas, Lourdes Novena for Healing, Chrism Mass, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday. The choir gives concerts throughout the year including Festival of Carols and a concert featuring liturgical music chosen by choir members. A highlight for the coming year is a performance of the Fauré Requiem. The choir also participates in the fun of Spokane’s Bloomsday Run by singing for the runners as they pass by the Cathedral.
The choir welcomes singers high school age and up. Currently the choir needs tenor and bass voices. The ability to read music is helpful but not required. The choir sings monthly for the Sunday 11:00am Mass. Rehearsals take place Thursday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:00pm in O’Connor Hall or the choir loft. Rehearsals for the 2024-25 season begin Thursday, Sept 5, and continue through June.
A private hearing is required to assess music reading abilities and pitch matching. To schedule a hearing please contact Dr. Henry Bauer at (509)358-5290 or [email protected].
Rehearsal: Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:00 pm
